A Symphony’s oil to be siphoned off in Qingdao
Breached tanker, A Symphony’s oil set to be removed today in Qingdao.
The damaged and breached tanker, A Symphony, is to have her oil removed today, say the vessel’s managers. The vessel was hit two days ago in dense fog by the bulk carrier Sea Justice off the Chinese port of Qingdao in the Yellow Sea.
A Symphony was at anchor when the collision occurred, causing a breach in her tanks and ballast tanks, Goodwood Ship Management said on Tuesday.
Local officials estimate that 400 tonnes of oil were lost and a Shandong official said it was “hard to say” what the impact on the marine environment would be.
The owners of the Sea Justice have not responded to attempts to contact them.
