No Injuries Reported after Wind Turbine Blades Fall into Sea
On October 18 Van Oord owned MPI Offshore was performing routine maintenance in the Irish Sea at the Vattenfall Ormonde wind farm.
During the maintenance proceedings while using the MPI Adventure jack-up vessel, three 61 m turbine blades somehow dropped along with a blade clamping tool weighing approximately 3000+ kg crashing heavily into the sea below.
No injuries were reported while an investigation still continues into what exactly occurred.
