The US National Transportation Safety Board has published a summary of facts as a preliminary report into the fatal capsize of the liftboat, Seacor Power, in the Gulf of Mexico on 13th April near Fort Fourchon, Louisiana.
The summary confirms reports that the crew of the vessel tired to stabilise the Seacor Power as the the sea state worsened. It also reported that the intensity of the bad weather and its duration hampered efforts to reach the vessel and rescue survivors.
Seven people are missing, presumed dead after the accident and six bodies have been recovered. NTSB said its investigators intend to inspect the vessel and collect further evidence when the Seacor Power is salvaged.
