Hapag-Lloyd acquires NileDutch
German line completes acquisition of Dutch container shipping company after purchasing all shares
Hapag-Lloyd has completed the acquisition of Nile Dutch Investments B.V (NileDutch) with the purchase of all shares and the granting of antitrust-authority approval. The two companies say they plan to integrate major components of their businesses by the end of 2021.
NileDutch is one of the leading shipping companies on the West African coast and is present in 85 locations across the globe. The company brings with it seven liner services, around 35,000 teu of transport capacity, and a container fleet with a capacity of 80,000 teu.
“We are very excited about closing the deal and look forward to working with our new colleagues to unlock the enormous potential that Africa has to offer”, explains Rolf Habben Jansen, CEO of Hapag-Lloyd.
“With the people from NileDutch joining our company, we are happy to welcome NileDutch’s roughly 320 employees to Hapag-Lloyd.”
