New Container Terminal in Sri Lanka Gets $700m Investment
A build, operate, transfer (BOT) agreement was recently signed between Adani Ports, Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), John Keells Holdings and the Sri Lankan Port Authority (SLPA) in efforts to collectively advance a new container terminal.
Adani Group is spearheading the project at the Port of Colombo in Sri Lanka and will invest $700m into the new container terminal.
The terminal is expected to be completed in 2024 as the first phase of construction is scheduled to begin in 2022.
SLPA stated, “With the signing of the agreement, and the massive development thereafter, the Port of Colombo will further enhance its global reputation as an international hub port.”
