Terminals at Adani Ports to Handle 0 Boxes From Three Countries
Ports in India have seen an increased rise in heroin busts as of late which coincides with the Taliban taking control of Afghanistan. Just last month $2.65 billion an estimated three tonnes was confiscated at an Adani Port after being shipped from Iran to Mundra, India originally from Afghanistan which contributes up to 80% poppy production globally.
Adani Ports, considered to be the largest port operator in India has made an announcement that beginning November 15 all of their 13 ports in India will not handle any incoming or outgoing containers from Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Not expressing if the few recent drug busts are a factor of the new measures, a statement was released by Adani Ports that simply said, “This trade advisory will apply to all terminals operated by (Adani Ports) and including third party terminals at any (company) port till further notice.”
