Partnership headed by Ørsted to bid in Japan’s offshore wind auction

Ørsted, Japan Wind Development and Eurus Energy to jointly develop wind projects in Akita Prefecture.

Danish wind giant, Ørsted, Japan Wind Development (JWD) and Eurus Energy have been developing two designated offshore wind sites in Japan’s Akita Prefecture, the Noshiro/Mitane/Oga offshore wind farm and the Yurihonjo offshore wind farm.

Both projects are currently progressing with the necessary permitting and are set for Japan’s upcoming offshore wind auction round.

Japan has laid out its wind power ambitions and plans to have 45GW offshore power by 2040. The Japanese west coast is expected to have 5GW by 2030 and 9GW by 2040.
