More Participants for the International Ammonia Fuel Study
Ammonia Fuel Study Attracts More Participants
A further 11 firms and organizations have agreed to participate in a cross-industry research project on the use of green ammonia as an alternative marine fuel, a necessary precursor to cutting carbon emissions in global shipping.
34 volunteers have now joined the Itochu Corporation-led collaborative study framework.
During the study, a safety assessment of green ammonia as a maritime fuel, including global supply chain issues and bunkering operations, will be made. Additionally, the development of ammonia-fuelled vessels will be investigated as well and in terms of specifications, green ammonia will also be looked into. And lastly, a feasibility study on the production of ammonia with net zero CO2 emissions will be carried out.
