Bulker start-up Viridis secures contracts for fleet
Ammonia-fuelled bulker company seals partnerships with five cargo owners.
Start-up, Viridis, has secured partnership agreements for the ammonia-fuelled fleet that it plans to have operational by 2024.
Elkem, Vestkorn, BioMar, Franzefoss Minerals and Saltimport will work on developing an efficient carbon-free freight network using Viridis’ newbuildings and cargo volumes from each company.
Viridis was formed by Faroese shipowner, Navigare Logistcs and Norway’s Mosvolds Rederi and is aiming to order five vessels in 2022.
“We see clear synergies between the cargo flows of our client partners. This is a good starting point to achieve high ship utilisation,” said Navigare managing director Espen Nordstrom.
