“The Rig” Family Fun in the Arabian Sun Inspired by Offshore Platform Design
A new 150,000 sq m tourism project inspired by an offshore oil platform which will be called “The Rig” is in current construction in the Arabian Gulf although no completion date has been reported as of yet.
Using Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund which is the Public Investment Fund (PIF), with an estimated $400bn portfolio, the goal of “The Rig” is to entice global tourists to its three hotels, several restaurants, extreme sports and many other adventurous excursions which it entails via helipad arrival or ship dock.
The project is on course with a strategy implemented by PIF to increase innovative options in Saudi Arabia in the tourism and entertainment sectors through 2021-2025.
