Iran Navy Fumbles Pirate Attack Attempt Near Arabian Sea

Iranian state TV reported that a failed pirate attack was attempted on October 16 when the Iranian Navy was able to ward off the pirates attempting to attack an Iranian oil vessel.

A “heavy exchange of fire” was reported to have occurred during the attack as the destroyer Alborz was used by the Iranian navy to fend from an estimated five speedboats containing pirates with advanced equipment aboard.

No injuries or deaths were mentioned in the report.
