Report Shows Decline in Armed Robberies Aboard Ships in Asia
Ship Robberies Decrease in Asian Waters
A recent report released from ReCAAP stated there were 55 armed robbery incidents aboard ships in Asia from January-September 2021 which went down 27% from the same time frame during 2020.
Of these incidents reported in 2021, none were listed as piracy events.
The report stated Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, South China Sea and the Sulu Celebes Seas all had decreased robbery attempts while the Singapore Strait, Manila Anchorage Areas in the Philippines and Sulu-Celebes Seas reported increased incidents from the previous year.
