Blystad tanker hit by Covid-19 outbreak
Two crew members hospitalised in Spain after Songa Sapphire docked in Tarragona.
A tanker operated by Arne Blystad A.S has suffered an outbreak of Covid-19, with two crew hospitalised. The 2008-built Songa Sapphire was quarantined in Tarragona after four seafarers tested positive for Coronavirus, local media reports.
The 17,600-dwt, Maltese-flagged vessel arrived in the Port of Tarragona on Sunday from Algeciras. Four of the crew showed symptoms which activated health department protocols. Two of the four were then hospitalised at Santa Tecla hospital.
The Port of Tarragona has taken responsibility for supplying the rest of the crew who are quarantining aboard. TradeWinds says Arne Blystad has been contacted for further information.
