Cook Aboard Bulk Carrier Kills Ship Master and Tells Crew Members
The Meghna Liberty a 55,900 DWT 2014-built vessel was sailing from South Africa on journey to India when the cook advised the all Philippine crew members aboard that he killed the captain.
On November 20 while the ship was sailing the Indian Ocean, crew checked in the masters quarters and blood was observed in the area.
The boat was directed to Port Louis, Mauritius in the Indian Ocean which was the nearest port after the Bangladeshi shipowner was advised of the incident.
The cook has been arrested and an investigation has begun.
