Arriva returns record results despite pandemic
Norwegian shortsea specialist, Arriva, is waiting for its first newbuilding after record profits.
Privately-owned shortsea specialist, Arriva, generated a record result last year, despite disruption caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.
Its pre-tax profits were reported as NOK14m ($1.7) in 2020, compared to NOK5m in 2019.
The family-owned company trades mostly in northern Europe and has a fleet of six self-loading dry bulk vessels and a further five to 10 vessels on charter.
Based in Olen on Norway’s west coast, the company ordered its first newbuilding in 2019, a 8,500-dwt hybrid vessel that is due for delivery next year.
It is believed the vessel cost between $13m and $15m and is being constructed in China, with final outfitting to be completed in Norway.
