Record Breaking Container Shipping Volumes for Russian Railways

The Covid-19 pandemic, backlog, port congestion and other factors causing shipping costs to increase in the market have cause for Asian manufactures to choose sending their goods by railway through Russia to destinations in Europe.

This has caused for Russian Railways to record breaking container volume movements.

In 2021, it is reported that container volumes reached a first ever high, increasing 34.4% with an estimated handling of 1 million TEUs.
