Expanding Clean Energy US Plans Offshore Wind Auctions
On October 13 it was announced that an expected seven offshore wind auctions will occur over the next four years off the United States coastlines.
The auctions will take place by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) and include the Gulf of Maine, the Gulf of Mexico, New York Bight, Central Atlantic, the Carolinas, California and Oregon as areas for development.
The US Interior Secretary stated, “This timetable provides two crucial ingredients for success: increased certainty and transparency,” she continues, “Together, we will meet our clean energy goals while addressing the needs of other ocean users and potentially impacted communities. We have big goals to achieve a clean energy economy and Interior is meeting the moment.”
