Progress for Samsung Heavy’s Autonomous Navigation System
Autonomous Navigation System Tested by Samsung Heavy
Samsung Heavy Industries has taken another giant leap forward in the efforts of autonomous ships.
On Monday September 6, using their Samsung Autonomous Ship (SAS), a remote autonomous navigation system, they displayed their first victorious demonstration of the system.
Using two ships, a 9,200 dwt ship and a 300-ton tug, the two vessels were able to avoid an impact by identifying one another in the ocean near the island of Gageo in the Yellow Sea.
Samsung Heavy intends to market its (SAS) automated navigation technology next year.
