Record Breaking Amount of Container Ships Anchored in California
44 Ships Anchored Off California Coast Causing Issues
Looming shipping delays appear in the near future for importing and exporting goods into Asia as 44 container ships are anchored off the coast of California and are waiting to enter either the Port of Los Angeles or the Port of Long Beach.
Both ports, although two of the largest in California, have experienced major delays throughout the pandemic, blaming it on labor shortage, the Covid-19 pandemic itself, and an increase in the purchase of holiday goods.
Not until 2023, when several new ships will come online, do industry experts predict ocean transportation capacity to normalize as this is a major setback.
