Backlogged Ports in Southeast Asia Cause for Shipping Concerns
Multiple Typhoons and Pandemic Causes Shipping Delays in the Southeast
Reports of as many as 109 ships are anchored in Southeast Asia waters which increased an additional 67 from October 14 due to Typhoon Kompasu coupled with the already crippling Covid-19 pandemic issues.
Multiple typhoons have battered China, Singapore, Taiwan with the latest currently bearing down on Vietnam causing ships to be in disarray.
An analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence, stated “The supply chain is very stretched, with no buffer, so any little event will cause another big problem.”
Analysts don’t expect the congestion to completely clear until February 2022.
