US Coast Guard cutters deployed to Europe, Bahrain
The Coast Guard is expected to augment Naval operations in European waters and off the coast of Bahrain.

NORTH ATLANTIC OCEAN — The United States Coast Guard announced that it had dispatched three cutters to the North Atlantic to augment naval shows of force and NATO operations in the North Atlantic Ocean and to European waters.
The USCGC Hamilton, the USCGC Charles Moulthrope, and the USCGC Robert Goldman departed their home ports in Puerto Rico. They departed on Thursday, April 1, 2021.
“US Coast Guard cutters have a long history of protecting America’s interests at home and abroad,” said Capt. Timothy Cronin, the commanding officer of the Hamilton, in a statement. “This historic deployment demonstrates how we can strengthen our national security by extending the Coast Guard’s global reach and firming our commitments to allies and partners in the region.”
The Hamilton is tasked with escorting the Charles Moulthrope and the Robert Goldman across the Atlantic, through European waters to their new deployment homeport at Manama, Bahrain.
These vessels are being sent to augment the US Navy’s Sixth Fleet area of responsibility before transferring to the Fifth Fleet command headquartered in Bahrain.
