One worker has been killed and two others wounded after an explosion at the SN Corporation Yard in Chattogram, Bangladesh on Saturday.
The explosion happened at about 1400 local time as the workers were dismantling a ship using cutting torches. According to local accounts, a boiler exploded during the operation.
Four victims were taken to a nearby hospital. The torch operator, named as Ripon Chakma, was pronounced dead.
The three other workers remain in a critical condition, according New Age Bangladesh. Some workers at the yard believe the casualty toll is higher than reported, the news outlet said.
The accident mirrors a similar incident at Jumuna Shipbreakers in Chattogram in early April and is the latest in a series of accidents at breakers yards in South Asia.
