MV Mozart boarded 98 nm NW of Sao Tome
A Liberian-flagged container ship is involved in an ongoing incident in the Gulf of Guinea; reports indicate the crew are mustered in the ship’s citadel.

The Maritime Domain Awareness for Trade – Gulf of Guinea (MDAT-GoG) reports that the MV Mozart was boarded at 0535 UTC in the Gulf of Guinea 98 nm north-west of Sao Tome. Her current position is 01 04.13N 005 04.22E. Dryad Global says the incident is ongoing, with the crew gathered in the ship’s citadel.
The Mozart, a 222x30m container ship, was en route from Lagos to Cape Town. This is the 5th offshore incident and the 2nd boarding in the GoG this year, and vessels are advised to maintain the highest levels of vigilance and implement full hardening when transiting the region.
The MDAT-GoG is a co-operation centre between the Royal Navy and the French Navy in support of the Yaoundé Process. Its primary focus is on maintaining maritime situational awareness in the central and western African maritime areas.
