Recovery Operation Begins of Crashed Airplane Wreckage in Hawaii
Investigators to Look Further into Aircraft Breakup by Recovery Efforts
On July 2, 2021 a Boeing 737-200 departed from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, Hawaii and reported engine issues shortly thereafter resulting in the aircraft’s fuselage breaking into two pieces. Both pilots flying the aircraft were rescued by the US Coast Guard after escaping the wreckage from the plane crashing into the waters of Mamala Bay nearby Oahu.
Over the next 10-14 days investigators will begin the clean up and recovery of the cargo jet in its entirety including the flight data recorder and cockpit recorder to help them better understand what took place.
