France Upset After UK Suggests Migrant Boats Return
The UK’s Home Secretary Priti Patel is pushing for ships crossing the English Channel carrying migrants to the UK, be returned.
A Border Force team has been completing training sessions for the past few months per Government Officials, however they state that the new procedures will only be used in limited circumstances.
France does not agree with the plan stating they believe this move breaks maritime law.
Thousands of migrants cross the channel from poor countries into the UK seeking asylum every year.
On Wednesday September 8, France’s interior minister Gérald Darmanin met with Ms Patel to discuss the issue but any new measures or updates were unable to be agreed.
