Brazil’s Coffee Exports Take a Hit Due to Shipping Concerns
Containers and Shipping Cause Issues for Brazil Coffee Exports
Accounting as a country that supplies almost 40% of the worlds coffee trade, Brazil is announcing major delays and decline in their coffee exports worldwide due to container issues and vessel space.
In August it was reported that exports fell 27% from the previous year which on record, was the least amount exported within the year. One listed report by Cecafe advised that approximately 3.5 million bags of coffee were unable to be shipped in a timely manner which caused an estimated $500 million loss.
The U.S. has been one of the countries demanding an increase in containers, however their ports are congested which are causing delays in containers on routes to South America, Asia and beyond.
