Fraunhofer IWES to Assess German Offshore Sites
Fraunhofer IWES has been deputed by The German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) for this feasibility study.
Renews reports about the appointment of Fraunhofer IWES for carrying out wind condition assessments at four prospective places along the German North Sea coast. Prior evaluations have deemed these four places appropriate for setting up offshore wind farms.
These areas are being tentatively referred to as:
- N-9.1
- N-9.2
- N-9.3a, and
- N-9.4
A detailed report is expected to be prepared once preliminary meteorological measurements are carried out.
Eventually, the task is expected to take at least a year at each site. Over this duration, aspects to be checked beyond wind direction and speeds include:
- Water temperature
- Air humidity
- Air pressure
