Vessel Catches Fire off Coast of Monterey in California

On November 10 watchstanders at the Eleventh Coast Guard District received multiple emergency location and personal location beacon alerts from Blue Dragon, an 85-foot commercial fishing boat with seven fishermen aboard.

The Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento deployed a C-27 aircrew who arrived on scene approximately 2 hours later and determined that the vessel was on fire however survivors had already been moved to life rafts with the help of the crew from a nearby Reederei Nord bulk carrier who diverted their route.
