VIDEO: Canada Introduces Their First Ever All-Electric Ferry Into Service

Canada Retrofitted a Ferry and Now it’s All-Electric
Canada paid an estimated $3.8 million to convert their PortsToronto’s Marilyn Bell I, a 96-foot ferry that was used to transport everything from passengers to vehicles and supplies and used to run on bio-diesel fuel, to now run on an all-electric, completely emissions free system.
The ferry was retrofitted to be powered by lithium-ion power.
Canal Marine & Industrial Inc. (CANAL), St. Catharines-based marine electrical engineering firm helped complete the electrical retrofit of the ferry which is now back in service.
