Master of Wakashio masterminds prison break

Captain of wrecked bulker tries to escape from detention in Mauritius.
The captain of the wrecked bulker, Wakashio, has allegedly been involved in a prison break from a Covid-positive detention centre in Port Louis, Mauritius, reports local media outlet L’Express.
Officials at the Petit-Verger prison told reporters that 12 inmates had devised a plan to remove window bars in a dormitory area and four had escaped.
Capt. Sunil Kumar Nandeshwar was among the planners of the break, but was prevented from escaping by a guard that noticed the missing bars.
The Wakashio went aground on a reef off Mahebourg, Mauritius on 25th July last year, causing the worst environmental disaster in the island nation’s history. Capt. Nandeshwar was subsequently held and charged with endangering safe navigation.
