Sailor Kills Captain Aboard Ship Headed to Korea
Chinese Captain Killed by Upset Sailor Aboard Containership at Sea
Pyeongtaek Coast Guard has reported the slaying of a 44 year old Chinese captain that occurred aboard a containership that was heading to a port in South Korea on December 8.
The Panama-flagged 13,000 ton containership included 17 Vietnamese sailors, one of which was the 24 year old killer.
As the ship was at sea, the sailors reported the killer may have been drunk when he stabbed the captain stemming from an earlier incident in which he was scolded by the victim.
The Coast Guard was called and boarded the ship upon arrival and arrested the sailor without incident.
The containership was directed to Pyeongtaek-Dangjin Port in South Korea as the investigation continues.
