World’s first carbon-neutral ethylene voyage
Navigator and Marubeni embark on groundbreaking
Navigator Holdings is planning what is claims is the world’s first carbon-neutral ethylene voyage. The company’s LPG carrier Navigator Triton set sail from Navigator’s own Morgan’s Point terminal in Houston, Texas on 6th July.
The vessel is bound for Antwerp for Japanese carrier Marubeni Corp which maintains one of the largest ethylene trading volumes in the world.
Satoru Ichinokawa, executive officer at Marubeni told TradeWinds: “We wish to take on the challenge of finding further areas for carbon reduction to meet new customer needs and expectations.”
Oeyvind Lindeman, chief commercial officer at Navigator, added that carbon reduction is a key strategic objective for the company.
