9 Missing Amid a Ship Collision in China
East China Reports a Ship Collision, 9 Still Missing
Of the ten crew members aboard the fishing boat that collided on Aug 12 with a cargo ship in the waters outside Zhoushan, an East China Sea port city, nine remain unaccounted for, according to rescue teams.
All ten of the fishing boat’s crew members fell into the water following the accident as the boat proceeded to sink. One crew member was saved at the scene. Nine crew members were still reportedly missing as of the early hours of August 13th.
Seven patrol boats and rescue ships have been despatched to the area of the incident, as well as ships nearby who are assisting in the search for the missing crew members.
