Covid-19 Positive Cases Aboard MSC Container Ship Near Chile
On January 4 the crew members aboard an Portuguese-flagged MSC cargo ship were tested for Covid-19 upon arrival at San Antonia Chile when it was determined that 3 positive cases were found.
The 2016-built MSC Branka contained over 1,000 containers but was was then taken out of service to be disinfected and quarantined with the cargo to remain onboard.
“We report that confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been detected in the crew on board the MSC Branka NX201R upon arrival at the Port of San Antonio. Following the protocols indicated by the health authority in Chile for these cases, the ship will have to quarantine before carrying out its operations,” said in a statement released by MSC.
