All Crew Rescued as Cargo Ship Sinks in Cretan Sea
Loss of 7,000 tons of Wheat in Cretan Sea After Ship Sinks
Two ships appear to have collided on August 28 in the Cretan Sea which resulted in the sinking of the Sea Bird vessel. All 16 crew members were from that ship were rescued after the search commenced, however, 7,000 tones of wheat was lost when the ship sank.
The Maritime Bulletin publication did not have more details to provide other than by early accounts, it appears the Sea Bird vessel which was heading to Tunisia from Ukraine, crashed into the Haya, a Lebanese cargo ship in the early hours of August 28 and began drifting North.
The investigation continues.
