Covid-struck Diamond Princess won’t sail again until 2022

Carnival Corp cancels sailings to South America and Antarctica.
The 115,900-gt, Diamond Princess, will not return to service until the spring of 2022, say owners Carnival Corp.
The luxury liner hit the headlines last year following an outbreak of Covid-19 that rampaged through the crew and passengers, causing respiratory illness in 700 and killing seven.
The company has now cancelled the cruise liner’s upcoming autumn cruise to South America and a cruise to Antarctica scheduled for early next year.
Reuters reports that Carnival has not responded to a request for comment on the reason for delaying the ship’s cruise re-start.
