Carnival Cruise Ship Sailed Amid Approaching Hurricane
Vacation Continues on Carnival in Face of Hurricane
Carnival stated that at the time of the depart from Galveston, Texas, Hurricane Ida was not in the ships path and it appeared safe to do so.
Departing on August 26th, the Carnival Breeze set sail out over the Gulf of Mexico and on its way to Cozumel as reports showed that Hurricane Ida was not expected to make landfall until August 29.
The ships itinerary has it scheduled to return to Galveston on Monday August 30th when Hurricane Ida is expected to be moving inland and up the coast, out of the ships way.
Carnival’s chief communications officer, Chris Chiames stated that Carnival has experience with operating ships during hurricane season and they would continue to watch as the storm develops in order to take any actions if needed.
