Video: Carnival’s first LNG cruiseship departs on maiden voyage
The newest additional to Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet, Mardi Gras, set sail on Saturday.
Carnival Cruise Line’s new LNG-powered cruiseship, Mardi Gras, has set sail on her maiden voyage. The 5,200-passenger giant departed Port Canaveral, Florida, on Saturday, marking the resumption of cruises for the port city after a long Covid-enforced hiatus.
Carnival President Christine Duffy attended a ceremonial ribbon cutting and was on hand to welcome guests aboard.
“Mardi Gras has been five years in the making so to finally welcome guests on board to experience this one-of-a-kind ship is something that we’ve been looking forward to for a very long time,” Duffy said.
“It’s so gratifying to be able to play a role helping the local community by providing much-needed jobs and a boost to the economy.”
