Carnival Cruise Cancels its Schedule to Use Ship for First Responder Housing
Carnival Cruise Lines has decided to delay its proposed restart of cruises to the Caribbean from New Orleans in an effort to help with the continued aftermath of Hurricane Ida.
Thousands of evacuees and some electricity linemen and other contractors were placed in the city of New Orleans as well as additional out of town medical teams and first responders which has resulted in a housing crisis.
On Tuesday, September 7th, Carnival Cruise Lines confirmed an agreement with the city of New Orleans and FEMA to supply temporary housing on the cruise ship Glory for workers providing assistance with Hurricane Ida’s impact in the area.
The Glory ship is able to provide lodging for up to 2,600 workers.
As of current, Carnival Cruise Lines has pushed out there expected start of the Caribbean cruises to September 19.
