Castor Marine snaps up LR2s and MRs for $49.3m
Cyprus-based Castor Marine has bought a five-ship tanker fleet, increasing its overall fleet to 23 tankers and bulkers.
Castor Marine has pulled off a significant coup in the secondhand market by swooping upon an en-bloc deal for five product tankers.
Castor said it paid $49.3m for the vessels, which increases its fleet to 23 tankers and bulkers.
The new additions to the rapidly expanding company are two unnamed 2006-built MR1 carriers, two aframax/LRs units built in 2004 and a 2002 aframax/LR2.
Castor chief executive Petros Panagiotidis said: “We are excited to announce our largest purchase transaction thus far, with the en bloc acquisition of five tankers.
“Since our entry into the tanker market earlier this year, we have managed to swiftly grow our tanker fleet to eight vessels,” he added.
