China launches most energy efficient VLCC to date
Advanced VLCC now operational after being approved by China Classification Society (CCS).
The Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Group has launched the most efficient VLCC ever built in China.
The 307,000 dwt VLCC, CS Hunan Venture is owned by China Shipbuilding Consulting Company and operated by Wah Kwong Ship Management Hong Kong.
Fan Qiang, Vice President of CCS said the new vessel’s innovative design means its Energy Efficiency Design Index is more than 20% below the baseline, making the CV Hunan Venture one of the most efficient VLCCs in the world.
The ship’s comprehensive performance indices reached world first-class during surveying. CSS now has more than 100 VLCC ships classed in its fleet.
