The Port of Tianjin in China has recorded a new monthly high in May, surpassing 2m teu in throughput — a growth rate on 20% year-on-year for the month of May.
Tianjin handled 18.35 teu in container volumes last year, an increase of 6.1% year-on-year, and this year looks set to break more records, making the northern Chinese haven one of the world’s top ten container ports.
The port has benefitted from cooperation with other ports in the region and China’s overall efforts to improve the container logistics chain. Tianjin has also fully embraced automated technology with the application of 5G throughout its terminals.
