History as the First Direct Call from China Received by Canada
Port of Montreal Makes History Receiving First Ever Direct Call from China
The Port of Montreal continues to grow trade relations with Asia and on November 14 made history as the port received the first ever direct call from China to occur without transshipment in the Mediterranean.
The 1997-built Happy Rover, a general cargo ship was chartered by Fracht FWO, included containers and arrived at the Racine Terminal.
The Vice-President, Growth and Development, Port of Montreal Authority said, “The first direct maritime link, without transhipment, between Asia and the Port of Montreal demonstrates the fluidity of exchanges and the availability of our facilities in Montreal. The Port of Montreal is pleased to be able to count on the efficiency and strength of its key supply chain partners.”
