World’s Largest Offshore Wind Turbine Unveiled by China’s MingYang
China Unveils the World’s Largest Offshore Wind turbine
One of China’s leading private wind turbine manufacturers, MingYang, has unveiled the world’s largest 16 MW offshore wind turbine.
The MySE 16.0-242 turbine can produce 80,000 MWh of electricity annually, enough to power over 20,000 homes. MingYang claims it can save over 1.6 million tonnes of CO2 over its 25-year lifespan.
The wind turbine is scheduled for full prototype rollout in 2022, followed by prototype installation in 2023 and commercial production in 2024.
MingYang’s new 15 MW offshore product platform begins here. In the future, it will be a portfolio of models that can adapt to different offshore environments, from the typhoon-prone South China Sea to Europe’s North Sea.
