Finnish innovator Yaskawa Environmental Energy / The Switch has pioneered a revolutionary magnet propulsion system for superyachts, taking clean energy solutions to the next level.

Called the Poseidon Power range – with reference to the Greek God of the seas, its highlight lies in a dramatic cut in emissions. Moreover, when compared with conventional propulsion systems, this one offers enhanced flexibility, better reliability, and superior efficiency.

For superyacht builders, this range offers unbridled choice since vessels can be powered by fully electric, hybrid or diesel-electric power propulsions. The result is low to nearly zero emissions.

Silence is golden

Superyacht customers aren’t quite fans of noisy boats that hinder their discussions on ways to spend their millions!

Therefore, with Yaskawa’s Poseidon Power range, superyacht builders can offer their customers a near silent experience, thanks to a propulsion system with extraordinarily little vibrations, made possible by a significantly shorter shaft with fewer bearings (the usual source of noise on conventional propulsion systems).

Poseidon’s solution also rids the system of the switchgear, further reducing noise emission and also freeing up available space.

Endless Possibilities

The entire Poseidon Power range also has a DC-hub which can offer a ring network to superyachts. With this, these yachts can generate power, store energy, and charge themselves. This leads to incremental savings in both size and weight, thanks to a more compact design, now rendered possible.

Beyond the superyacht market, this ground-breaking propulsion system also paves the way for apt exploration of the environmentally sensitive Arctic region.

Further, Yasawa’s radical hybrid solutions and marine drives augment fuel savings not only on superyachts but also on other vessels such as ferries, cruise lines, service and offshore vessels, and other commercial ships.
