White House revokes Trump-era energy rules, promotes wind
The US Interior Department sought to erase a pro-fossil fuels energy policy of the former Trump administration.

WASHINGTON — The United States Department of Interior announced that they had revoked a controversial pro-fossil fuels energy policy championed by former President Donald Trump. The move comes as the Biden administration moves to rapidly implement new policies that put the US on track towards en masse decarbonization of the nation’s economy by 2050.
“From day one, President Biden was clear that we must take a whole-of-government approach to tackle the climate crisis, strengthen the economy, and address environmental justice,” notes Deb Haaland, the Interior Secretary appointed by President Joe Biden.
“At the Department of the Interior, I believe we have a unique opportunity to make our communities more resilient to climate change and to help lead the transition to a clean energy economy,” Haaland said. “These steps will align the Interior Department with the President’s priorities and better position the team to be a part of the climate solution.”
Haaland issued Secretarial Order 3399 to establish a climate change task force to coordinate work across the Interior Department and other agencies to implement climate policy. This new order also includes guidance to implement a strong wing energy development program that promotes wind development in protected lands and waters.
