CMA CGM takes delivery of ninth LNG vessel
23,000 teu LNG-powered CMA CGM Sorbonne welcomed to fleet at ceremony in Shanghai.
CMA CGM has taken delivery of its ninth LNG-powered boxship at a ceremony at the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding under CSSC in Shanghai.
CMA’s CEO for China, Ludovic Renou, was in attendance, as was the ship’s godmother, Jiang Dandan, the well-known philosopher and artist who teaches at Jiaotong University in Shanghai and at the Sorbonne in Paris. The ship’s name is a tribute to the world-renowned institution.
44 of the company’s vessels will be powered by LNG by the end of 2024. The move towards LNG technology is part of the CMA’s plan to become carbon neutral by 2050.
