Mariner dies from Covid aboard Pavimar bulker off Spain
Coronavirus outbreak claims life of seafarer, with seven more cases identified.
A mariner has died from Covid-19 aboard the 2013-built, 58,000-dwt bulker Alis. Seven more crew members have tested positive, with two needing to be hospitalised.
The Marshall Islands-flagged vessel has been anchored of Algeciras since 23rd may and is awaiting permission to dock after five mariners tested positive in the the last week. Three others have been taken off the vessel.
One of the three disembarked seafarers died due to cardio-respiratory arrest in Motril, while the other two were taken to hospital in Malaga.
The Alis left Chennai, India on 30th April and the presence of the Indian Delta coronavirus variant has not been ruled out.
