23 New Covid-19 Cases Have Been Reported Aboard Fishing Vessel
On July 15th health authorities identified 23 new cases of COVID-19 among a Portuguese fishing vessel off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Health officials in the provincial provinces said 31 crew members aboard the Princesa Santa Janova, including a seafarer in the hospital, have now been tested positive for the disease.
Canadian Press states that there were reportedly 39 people on the vessel which was informed by Karl Risser who is an Atlantic Canadian inspector with the International Transport Workers’ Federation.
In addition, last week 14 members of a crew tested positive for COVID-19 aboard a tanker, the Iver Ambition, which is anchored in the vicinity of the fishing vessel; and officials from public health today stated that figure remains intact.
In Conception Bay, both vessels are approximately 25 km west of St. John’s.
