Master Boat Builders Begins Building All-Electric Tug for US

In Coden, Alabama at the Masters Boat Builders’ shipyard in the US the company has began construction on what will be America’s first ever all-electric tug to be delivered to Crowley once complete.

The eWolf will be 82-feet long, equipped to have 70 tons of bollard pull and an all electric propulsion system.

The vessel will service the Port of San Diego in California forecasted to begin in 2023.

Garrett Rice, president of Master Boat Builders stated, “Initiating construction of the first-ever fully electric U.S. tugboat, the eWolf marks a historic moment for Crowley and Master Boat Builders,” he continued. “Today is also a remarkable milestone for the entire U.S. maritime industry, as we work toward providing groundbreaking net zero-emission maritime capabilities”.
